RONNIE JAMES DIO's Fall 2009 Interview With Scotland's 96.3 ROCK RADIO Available For Streaming

May 17, 2010

DJ Paul Anthony of Scotland's 96.3 Rock Radio conducted an interview with legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) just weeks before he was diagnosed with the stomach cancer which killed him yesterday (Sunday, May 16). At that time Ronnie was preparing to return to the U.K. with his band DIO, ahead of another round of touring with BLACK SABBATH offshoot HEAVEN & HELL.

Paul remembers: "I've had the pleasure — and it always was a pleasure — of meeting and interviewing Ronnie on a great number of occasions during the last 25 years.

"He was a true gent and a real professional. But above all he was one of the greatest rock talents of all time.

"HEAVEN & HELL's album 'The Devil You Know' proved he was still very much at the top of his game, and his performance with the band at Sonisphere last year was truly outstanding.

"When I interviewed him two weeks before he was diagnosed with cancer, he told me about the possible ELF reunion, a double follow-up to the DIO album 'Magica', and loads more.

"His passion for life, music and his family knew no bounds. His wife, Wendy, summed it up when she said: 'He loved you all and his music will live on forever.'"
